Entry for July 6, 2008
well, its over. after 6 days the cody stampede came to an end last night. i guess that means i can finally get some sleep. to make everything for the contestants, i went through over 100 lbs. of chocolate, 50 lbs of flour, 45lbs. of sugar, 40 lbs. of butter and 15 dozen eggs. that all equalled 2,750 chocolate chip cookies, 650 coconut macaroons, 1,600 brownies and 1,200 peanut butter bars. i'm actually surprised i was able to pull it off. sunday night was rough and there was a moment when i thought i was in over my head, but i was able to get everything made, and i think everyone enjoyed the treats. i did see several of the contestant wives leaving the hospitality room with plates loaded with brownies and cookies, thats a good sign. the rodeo itself was great. there were a lot of top notch rides, and several near record times. espn was there yesterday to tape the extreme bulls event. i nearly got clocked by the boom camera, i really thought it was only a matter of time before i got knocked off the chute by the camera, but luckily the camera man was a pro. i came very close to accepting an offer from some buddies to join them on the ciruit tour. if my saddle had been in the back of my truck, i would be far from here right now. i think i will meet up with them later this month and hit a bunch of rodeos in wyoming and northern colorado. like i always say, the pain of not riding is far worse than the pain from riding. but for now i need to concentrate on the ranch, the store and training.
