Entry for July 14, 2008
bastille day. enough said. we had some relief from summer heat this weekend, it was 39 degrees saturday morning. very nice. this week the temps should stay in the 70's, and i can handle that. we are doing our first cutting at the ranch, and it is never a fun thing in 90 degree heat. haying in cooler weather is far better. cheyenne frontier days kicks off saturday. always a good time, and i cant wait to get back down there. this is the one summer rodeo that all cowboys want to go to. cheyenne knows how to put on a show, and they always take good care of the contestants (even if they dont have my desserts). the bar scene there is a lot of fun, too many stories to translate here, and too many possibilities for self incrimination, to say the least. meeteetse is hosting a ranch rodeo this saturday up at our rodeo grounds. meeteetse chocolatier is proud to be a sponsor this year. we are sponsoring the saddled cow riding. saturday is national day of the american cowboy. in celebration, there will be the ranch rodeo and then a bbq and concert over at the oasis. these events have drawn great crowds the last two years. i may end up scooping ice cream up at the rodeo grounds on saturday, if its warm enough, and i'm not worried about that. time to open the store and get back to work.
