Entry for December 7, 2007
round 2 has begun. after yesterdays round, all the bareback guys should be feeling great. everyone covered their horse last night. tonights pen is a rank one. just the kind you hope for. russ and lynette keep texting me. they have the advantage of being in the thomas & mack arena. i have to wait to watch it on espn2. you can hear the NFR live online or on the PRCA radio network. but i like to watch it, so i have to suffer and wait the extra two hours. the bareback riders are doing great. royce ford put on a clinic. bobby mote did great too. bulldoging is up next. that is a fun event to watch. the steers are running fast tonight. 3.5 is the time to beat. with bulldogging, it seems as though if one guy does well, they all do well. team roping is on deck. so far, most of the teams are doing well. if they get a no time at this point, they are out of the average, but they can still take the day money. that adds up fast. now comes the good part, saddle bronc. rodeos classic event. here is some trivia...the horse in wyomings logo is named steamboat. he was a legendary saddlebronc horse. tonight is the eliminator pen. that means these are the rankest horses, the best of the best. so far, the horses are winning. no one has stayed on for the full 8 seconds, yet. man, this is an incredible pen of horses. these guys are fighting for every second in the saddle. the second half of the group is starting to cover their horses. 5 of 15 made it to the whistle. thats impressive for the rank pen. tie down roping is now in the arena. these calfs are big tonight. they weight a lot. stran smith just pulled out an amazing run. he is now currently in 1st place. impressive. and stran wins the round. the ladies barrel racing is up next. well, the news is not so good. jeffrey willert, the first guy to cover a bronc tonight got stepped on by the horse at the end of his ride. it turns out he broke his femur. he will probably have surgery tonight, and be out of the rodeo arena for 6 months. jeffrey won the NFR a few years ago. what an awful way to end the season. the bull riders are having a tough go round. kanin is from powell, north of cody. he is currently 2nd overall. round 2 has come to an end. time to get back to work and get ready for saturday. round 3 is tonight and should be a challenge.
