here we go with round 4. bareback is going well. bobby mote just won the round. congrats. he has been wanting a go round victory, and came up short the first three rounds. a win tonight has to feel good after last nights low score. todd suhn just had a great run in bulldogging. todd is an annual fixture of the NFR. trevot knowles just proved why he belongs at the NFR. talk about try. he is still in the average. ouch. joey bell's horse just bucked him into a roughstock chute. that looked like it really hurt. man, his ribs will be sore in the morning. team roping is a rough way to make a living. all that time and effort, and it all comes down to 5 seconds, or less. nothing like building a fortune on 4.4 seconds. at least in the roughstock events you get 8 seconds. trevor brazile and patrick smith just won the round with a 4.0. not too bad. now trevor is only $4,000 away from breaking his winnings record. impressive. now to the good stuff, saddle bronc. issac diaz had a good ride. he held on at the fence and had a great mark out. low score though. talk about a wild ride. heith demoss just pulled of a wild ride. 86.5 great score. anthony just blew a stirrup. that is a terrible feeling, knowing you are about to blow off the horse. jesse bail kept on the horse for an 81, not a pretty ride, but a ride none the less. i thought chad farley missed the markout, but luckily they gave him a score. billy etbauer and rusty allen both got thrown. there is something you rarely see. rod hay pulls off a great ride. he almost pops out of the saddle, but kept lifting on his rein and stayed on. good job.cody demoss, heith's brother, had his horse stall on him in the chute, and rode him out. he should get a re-ride option. i'm sure he will take it, especially since his brother is currently in first place for the round. i think the re-ride will happen right befoe the bull riding. tie down time. the pen of calfs is strong. swing, jump, run. strange to watch this event without fred whitfield as a contestant. hard to remember an NFR where he didnt compete. matt shiozawa wins this round with a 7.7. on to barrel racing. to bad the barrels arent filled with COOR'S. that would make things interesting. especially when one is knocked over.the bull riding has the eliminator pen tonight. these are the rank ones. the bulls are definately winning this round. kanins up. powell cowboy, he won the extreme bulls in cody and the cody stampede. he got bucked off. i think his elbow is still hurting him. he hyper extended it at the extreme bulls finale. well, the bulls won this round. only 3 of the 15 cowboys covered the 8 seconds. and bj took the re-ride and didnt make it. the good news is that there are still 6 more rounds. and each first place gets you a $16,000 check. not too shabby. tomorrow marks the half way point. the competition usually picks up as everyone jockeys for position. have a good night, and we'll chat tomorrow.
