Entry for December 11, 2007
time for round 6. the bareback riders are having the best overall NFR. they all have received a check, and everyone has covered all of their horses. will lowe had a great ride. 86.0 the horses are strong and jumpy. bobby mote had a classic ride. its amazing how straight his back stays during his rides. tom macfarland wins the round with a strong ride. bulldogging is next. this is a very close race. the final round may be where the champion is determined. to me, thats how it should be. at a bar in denver, someone came up to a buddy of mine thats a bulldogger, and asked him what it was like to wrestle calfs. he replied...."take a harley up to 40mph jump off, and tackle a mailbox. thats as close as you'll get". sounds about right to me. sean mulligan takes the round and todd suhn takes 2nd. time for team roping. for more NFR details, check out www.prorodeo.com that is the PRCA's official website. there are links to every NFR detail you can think of. the team ropers are having a few problems. most of them are doing well though. cesar de la cruz and todd coulter win the round. and that means saddle bronc is up next. anthony makes the ride, even with a long rein 79.5. issac diaz makes a good ride 80.0 chad ferley makes the ride. after last nights saddle blow out, chad had to replace the latigo and back rigging. heath demoss is back in the arena. he seperated his shoulder last night. talk about cowboy up. heath gets thrown, no score. jessie bail gets ready to ride. wow, great ride. 82.0 chet johnson on rainmaker. smooth ride, good markout. 79.0 should have been higher. 80 or 81. billy etbauer, multiple NFR champion, makes it look easy. now that i've said that, he gets thrown. rusty allen makes the ride with a very long rein. the horse, round robin, yanks the rein making it longer than rusty wanted. 86.5 taos muncey on wild card. taos has covered 5 of his 6 horses this week. 77.5 justin arnold makes the whistle, rides john wayne for 83.0 rod hay, the only guy to cover all of his horses so far, and now is 6 for 6. 81.0 ryan mapston, a montanian, has a good ride. 76.0 low score. cody demoss is in the chutes. nice ride, on an okay horse. 83.0 cody wright, the horse goes down and jumps up. re-ride option. on to tie down roping. josh peek and houston hutto share 1st at 7.4 barrel racing is next. my buddy aarron thinks we should combine barrel racing with the bullriding. that way the women could act as the pick up men when the guys come off the bulls. and the barrel men could hide inside the three barrels. could make for some entertaining times. jill moody wins the round with ascorching 13.64. the arena record is 13.52 on to the bull riding. ted bert takes 1st in the round. kanin asay comes in 3rd. after tonight, it all about the average. points is points, so to speak. the average pays the top 8 cowboys, and can change your overall ranking in a heartbeat. well, time to get back to work. until tomorrow, let 'er buck.
