Entry for December 12, 2007
hard to believe round 7 is here. the NFR is flying by. i have to keep on working during tonights round, so my blathering commentary will be edited a bit. i have a bunch of orders to fill, and time is rushing by. bareback is starting. heath ford covers his horse. kelly timberman is up. he is from casper. rough ride. bobby mote has a great horse, gus. and justin mcdaniel takes the round. his second win of the NFR. on to bulldogging. todd suhn has a bad calf, but turns in a respectable time. stockton graves takes the round. team roping starts. these are the best teams in the world, and some days, even the best struggle. everyone seems to be missing a bit tonight. thats just how it goes some days. david key and corey koons win the go round. they have been doing well all week. now, on to saddle bronc riding. this has been a great event so far. the whole group has been riding well, and some of the lower ranked guys are doing very well. justin arnold starts things off. great ride. 82.5 chad ferley blows out of the chute, and he missed the markout. ryan mapston holds on to a rank horse. 84.8 heath demoss is in the chutes. looks good for someone with a seperated shoulder. good ride. and a flying dismount! 80.5 issac diaz has a nice ride, good markout. anthony takes his horse the full 8 seconds. jesse bail has a rough markout. gets thrown after getting scraped off the chute. he will get a re-ride. chet johnson gets a re-ride option as well. rod hay covers another, he is now 7 of 7, the only guy to cover every horse so far. 82.5 billy etbauer cover his horse too. taos muncey has a good ride and makes it to the whistle with an 87.5. rusty allen has astrong ride with a very buckey horse. great spurring rythym. 79.5 cody demoss hangs on for a great ride, it looked like he was about to lawn dart it into the arena. he gets a low score, 73. it looked good, but not technically. cody wright has a great ride on a nice bronc. 85.0 and taos muncey wins another round. good job, and congrats to the new mexico cowboy. on to the barrel racing. actually, its on to tie down roping, i'm just anxious to see the giant cans of COOR"S. tie down is going well. a lot of strong times. trevor brazile takes the round, and reclaims the #1 standing. now we heading into the barrel racing. another fast round, with a few dumped barrels. time for bull riding. kanin asay covers his bull again. at this point in the NFR, any ride can be a good ride. when it come to points, the average is now a huge factor. b.j. schumacker gets thrown right at the chutes. logan knibbe, who was 0 for 6 in the first 6 rounds, rides his first bull of the NFR, and wins the round. not a bad way to end a rough streak. 7 down and only 3 rounds left to go. this is when it gets interesting. everyone begins to jockey for position, and the average really comes into play. most of the races are very close, and that makes for a great finals.
